Bengaluru, India, Dec 2, 2019 -- Police in the city of Bengaluru (BCP) appear to be taking proactive steps in making women's safety a top priority. The PCO has set up a wing dedicated to women's safety following the brutal rape by the veterinary doctor of Hyderabad.
City police commissioner Bhaskar Rao told IPS that PCO has set up a separate wing for women's security in the Central Crime Division (CWC). This wing will work exclusively to address women's safety issues in the city. The new wing would also consider providing women with self-defense training.
The PC said the wing would also take strict measures in accordance with the law against those who filmed videos of private moments to blackmail people. "After the Telangana rape incident, we gave assurances to all Bengalurians about their safety," he said.
