News : DirecTV Call Center to Hire 90 New Full-time Employees in Missoula
Missoula, MT, USA, Feb 24, 2015 -- The DirecTV call center in Missoula will hire 90 new full-time employees within the next several months to replace entry-level jobs that have opened up due to internal promotions.
The new jobs will be for customer service representatives who talk to the satellite television company’s current and potential customers from around the world by phone, answering questions and providing technical support, among other job duties.
James Brown, a talent acquisition consultant at the call center, said 90 current employees are being promoted internally, meaning they will now handle different types of calls that require more experience.
"We really don’t hire externally for any other positions other than the entry-level positions," he explained. "So those are being freed up, and we gotta bring people in."
The employees being promoted will take on case management, support and calls from new customers.
"We coddle new customers to make sure we don’t lose them in a certain time frame," Brown explained. "So we use experienced employees for that. We can also move employees into a team leader role. It’s more of a career path. Our site director has been pushing for people to have more opportunities, so they are not stagnant in their position and get more reward from the job. It’s pretty cool stuff."
DirecTV has expanded the type of support provided to customers, and the new promotions are a result of that change.
Brown said new employees are guaranteed full-time work if they want it, or they can opt for part-time work that still includes benefits.

First-year employees can expect to make between $23,900 and $34,000, depending on hours worked, performance, and whether they hit monthly bonuses and incentives.
Brown said employees have the option of working overtime hours if they wish.
