News : Discom Receives 50% Plaints from Gurgaon
Gurgaon, India, May 24, 2016 -- Residents make as many as 600 grievance calls to power discom Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam every day. According to the discom, that amounts to half of the total of 1,200 calls made to its toll-free number. In the past three days, for instance, 630 to 650 calls were received from Gurgaon.
While fewer than 10 grievance calls are received from Nuh, Jind, Narnaul, Palwal, Sohna, Manesar, Daruhera, Bhiwadi and Hisar, the discom gets about 50 complaints from Faridabad.
"In all, 90% of complaint calls from Gurgaon are regarding power cuts and voltage fluctuation. The other areas sometimes also complain about electric shock cases or power cables lying on the road," said a staff member who attends to calls at the discom call centre.
Discom officials attributed the large number of calls from the city to the high awareness levels among its residents. "As compared to other cities in Haryana, the awareness level of people in Gurgaon is high," a DHBVN official said.
Vijaya Singh, a resident of Sushant Lok III and a grievance caller, said, "More calls are being received from the city because the power shortage is extremely severe here. I moved from Hisar to Gurgaon some three years ago. However, in a so called 'millennium city', the power shortage is going from bad to worse by the day."
Many people said they needed to make repeated calls to the DHBVN because their complaints went unaddressed.
