News : Doctor Just a Call Away: AIIMS to Introduce ‘Call Center’ Helpline
New Delhi, May 5, 2014 -- In an endeavor to provide hassle free facilities to its patients, India’s medical institution All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will be introducing a call center through which the needy can easily take doctor’s appointment over phone.
This service can only be availed by the patients, who at least once have sought medical assistance from the AIIMS. All these patients will be immensely benefited of this service.
The AIIMS claims that this new facility of taking appointment over the phone will especially help those patients who come from other states. Moreover, this new feature will also help people avoid standing in the long queues for registration.
The AIIMS administration has already tested this call center facility at trauma center. Buoyed by its success, the AIIMS is now looking forward to apply this service in the other departments too.
The medical institution is also planning to make its OPD service online. The help line number to seek appointments is likely to be unveiled soon. Initially, a phone number will be introduced in a month for trial. Later, the service will be converted into a full fledge call center.
Doctor Deepak Aggarwal of the Neuro-Surgery Department has been given responsibility for smooth functioning of unique facility. Dr Aggarwal said, "This initiative has been taken under the direction of AIIMS Director Dr AMC Mishra to provide better medical facility to the patients."
"By the month of July, the process of installation of the call center will be completed; the appointment system will start in phases. Private companies will be assigned the responsibility," Dr Aggarwal said.
For facilitating its patients, the hospital has also come up with ‘Single window system’. The patients through a single counter can reach out any doctor of any department. Moreover, one can get the appointment date and deposit fee from the same window.
