News : Downtown Call Center to Close
Yakima, WA, USA, July 10, 2018 -- Arvato will be closing its call center in downtown Yakima.
JEM Development, which has leased one of its downtown Yakima properties to Arvato, confirmed in a news release Tuesday that it has received notice that the call center will be winding down operations and vacating the building, which is part of the former Yakima Mall, in the next few months.
Arvato opened the call center at 399 E. Yakima Ave. in January 2013. Arvato is a subsidiary of the German company Bertelsmann, which owns several media subsidiaries.
The company has not yet commented on the closure, but earlier in the year Bertelsmann executives had revealed plans to find a buyer for the Arvato customer relationship management operation, which would include the Yakima call center. JEM Development also noted Bertelsmann's plans in its news release.
Arvato is not the first call center to open and close at that address. Whirlpool, and prior to that, Maytag, operated a call center for several years before closing in April 2011.
