News : Dubai Municipality Launches WhatsApp Service to Address Rumours
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, July 28, 2016 -- Dubai Municipality has launched a 24/7 smart service on WhatsApp to address rumours being circulated against the municipality or its service, an official said on Thursday.
The new service comes to build on the municipality’s "Authentic News" initiative that was lunched earlier and refuted more than 35 rumours in May only.

Ebrahim Dashti, Head of the Contact Centre Section at the municipality, said: "The launch of the new service comes in line with the municipality’s principle of transparency and its efforts to quash all rumours being circulated by ensuring the veracity of news sources and spreading social awareness among the public through its various channels."
The municipality has so far received 12 false reports on its dedicated number 0501077799, most of which were related to food, health, safety, buildings and waste, Dashti added.
He said the municipality has chalked out plans to connect the public with the contact centre on issues that require direct communication between the municipality and the public.
