News : Uttarakhand's Emergency Response System Ready for Diwali
Dehradun, India, Nov 10, 2015 -- Uttarakhand's only emergency response system, 108, has geared up for Diwali with the entire fleet of 139 ambulances being deployed at strategic locations across Dehradun and other parts of the state.
In Dehradun, 15 ambulances have been deployed to provide medical and emergency support to the people on Diwali night. COO, 108, Manish Tinku, said, "The entire staff at ambulances and call centre will be on duty on Diwali night to handle any situation and provide help to anyone in Dehradun and other parts of the state."

On an average, 108 records 300 calls from all over the state every day. On Diwali, the number goes up to over 500. A majority of calls are due to brawls and fire incidents. The maximum number of calls are from Nainital, Haridwar and Udhamsingh Nagar. Ahead of Diwali, scores of 108 ambulances had been stationed at strategic locations. The points have been chosen in and around clusters of villages that have road connectivity with district hospitals.
