News : EPFO Launches Dedicated Helpline for Workers
Bengalaru, India, Jan 21, 2017 -- The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) warned private organisations against violating the provisions of the EPFO Act by denying the social security benefit of EPF to its employees.
Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of a dedicated number for PF-related grievances, Additional Central PF commissioner (Karnataka) V Vijaya Kumar said a large number of contract employees and construction workers across the state still remain deprived of PF benefits.

"We have launched EPF amnesty scheme to enrol all eligible workers with EPFO, till March 31, 2017. We will also approach all government and private establishments, trade unions, employers’ associations across the state to enrol workers voluntarily for the EPF benefits. If any employer fails to enrol their employees under this scheme, then legal action will be initiated against the employer from April," said Vijaya Kumar.
Maneesh Agnihotri, Regional PF Commissioner-I Bengaluru, said employees can also contact the EPFO’s new dedicated number if any employer is denying them social security benefits. "We will also conduct inspections at such establishments and take strict against the violators," he added. The Employees’ Provident Fund Act, 1952, applies to any notified establishment employing more than 20 people.
