News : FCR Call Center Employing 200 in Butte Now, Continuing to Grow

#contactcenterworld, @1callres

Butte, MT, USA, March 11, 2020 -- The FCR call center at the Butte Plaza Mall has doubled its workforce since last fall and now has about 200 full-time employees providing customer support, technical assistance and services on behalf of other businesses.

It hopes to employ as many as 400 in the coming year and can accommodate them in the mall, but precise jobs numbers will depend on industry demand, said Stephanie Marshall, FCR’s site director in Butte.

FCR is not an outbound call center and doesn’t perform telemarketing sales calls. Instead, the company based in Eugene, Oregon provides customer service technical support and other inbound call center duties on behalf of third-party clients.

"We are going to continue to grow, but we want to grow at a rate that allows us make sure we do all quality work," Marshall said.

With application assistance from the Butte-Local Development Corp. and Butte-Silver Bow, FCR is in line for $216,000 in grant money from the Montana Department of Commerce for creating 36 new, full-time jobs that pay at least $14.16 per hour.

Those are mainly supervisory positions that pay more than entry-level positions, which start at $10.40. Some of the 36 new jobs have already been filled, the company says.

About $204,000 of the grant money can be used to help FCR with buying equipment, furniture and computers, reducing lease rates or reimbursing wages. The rest can be used for administrative expenses.

The call center has been a plus for the economy in Butte, which has lost several major retailers over the past five years, including two in the mall — JC Penney and Herberger’s — and Kmart just next door.

FCR opened its Butte call center last summer in space previously occupied by JC Penney.

"I think they have been hugely successful," said Karen Byrnes, Butte-Silver Bow’s community development director. "We have heard really good things about their working environment and the morale of their employees. It’s been a great shot in the arm for our community."
