News : First Data Announces Closure of Local Call Center
Corpus Christi, TX, USA, May 6, 2015 -- A call center has announced plans to close down, leaving about 300 Coastal Bend residents without a job.
First Data, a company that handles electronic payments, announced Tuesday their plans to close their local call center by November of this year. It was just five years ago when the company laid off a quarter of its Corpus Christi workforce.
The company said employees are eligible for a severance package and are being worked with individually. They said the closure is part of a consolidation effort to save money on a larger scale.
