News : Gambia: Hotline Call Centre for Ebola
Sept 4, 2014 -- The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) on behalf of the four GSM companies in the country yesterday presented eight mobile phones to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare as the ministry's launched hotline call centre for Ebola.
Speaking at the launching of the call centre held at the Central Medical store in Kotu, Omar Sey, Minister of Health and Social Welfare, thanked PURA and the GSM companies on behalf of the government.
According to Minister Sey, the items would complement government's efforts at preventing or fighting against Ebola in case of any eventuality. "We have 24-hour sleeplessness only for The Gambia to be freed of Ebola," he said, while thanking the donors for their support.
Sompo Ceesay of PURA said the contribution was done by all the GSM companies, noting that the call centre would strengthen the communication system on Ebola.
According to him, people should use the hotline 1025 for emergency and enquiries on Ebola at no cost in any network.
He reiterated that they are out to support the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare with their partners.
