News : Garbage Helpline Gets 10,127 Plaints
Vadodara, India, Aug 3, 2016 -- The helpline started by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) to handle garbage and sanitation related complaints has received 10,127 complaints in a month since its inception.
Of these, 5,467 complaints pertained to complaints of garbage lying around and were taken care of by quick response teams of the civic body.
The remaining needed engineering work to be done by the civic body. Officials said that only 510 of these complaints remained under process.
The VMC also felicitated sanitary workers with shawls at an event. The event was the first amongst the series of such programmes that are expected to take place across the city. The sanitary workers, prominent citizens and senior VMC functionaries had remained present at the Govindrao Maharaj Primary School near Khanderao Market.
Over the next two weeks, schools and other organisations will be holding similar programmes to honour the sanitary workers across the city. Around 3,500 workers are expected to be felicitated by August 15.
