News : Grand Rapids Teleperformance to Hire 350 People
March 25, 2014 -- An international call center company plans to bolster its footprint in the West Michigan market with a new expansion.
Armed with a contract for new business from an existing client, Teleperformance USA plans to hire an additional 350 people at its Cascade Township call center over the next 90 days, the company confirmed to MiBiz.
Teleperformance, a Utah subsidiary of a French-owned multinational firm, needs to hire 260 people by May 11 to accommodate the additional call volume from its client, an unnamed wireless carrier, said Jim Phillips, the firm’s vice president of recruitment.
The MEDC’s initial announcement in July said Teleperformance would create 500 jobs. After this spring’s round of hiring, the call center will have nearly 700 employees in greater Grand Rapids, Phillips said.
Most of the jobs are customer service-related and primarily focused on helping the customers of the wireless provider set up their accounts and answer billing questions, he said.
