News : GTCC to Train Greensboro Call Center Workers
Greensboro, NC, Oct 7, 2014 -- GTCC is accepting students for a program to train workers for a new N.C. Department of Revenue call center.
The first Call Center Agent–N.C. Department of Revenue course will start Oct. 16 and run through Dec. 16. The 120-hour class will train up to 24 students for entry-level jobs as call center agents.
Classes will be held at GTCC's Greensboro Campus on East Wendover Avenue.
Prospective students must have a high school diploma or a GED; a working e-mail account; the ability to use the Internet and Microsoft Word; and a silver-level ACT National Career Readiness Certificate or equivalent skills. GTCC offers KeyTrain assessments.
Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
GTCC plans to offer a second course in the spring semester.
The Department of Revenue announced in August that it would open a call center in Greensboro in early 2015. The only other revenue department call center in the state is in Rocky Mount.
The Greensboro call center will employ about 40 people. Salaries will range from about $29,000 to $43,000 per year.
