Ahmedabad, India, Dec 26, 2021 -- The consumer department is all set to introduce an online mechanism to help consumers, who become victims of fraud or are dissatisfied with the quality of the purchase of goods or services, to register complaints and get their grievances redressed.
The department is going to launch a Consumer Awareness and Protection Unit (CAPU) to allow people to lodge grievances by making a call or writing an e-mail.
The online system has been created looking at the fact that while people buy goods from malls, markets and online platforms, in case of being duped they don’t know where to raise the grievance.
As of now, consumers can register complaints on the Central Government’s Public Grievances Portal and the Integrated Grievances Redressal Mechanism Portal apart from other helpline platforms. Now the state government has set up its own platform," said Chandresh Kotak, controller of Legal Metrology and director of Consumer Affairs.
