News : Hamilton to Consider Tax Breaks for Barclays Jobs
Hamilton, OH, USA, Aug 10, 2015 -- Hamilton City Council will consider approving tax incentives Wednesday in support of Barclays Services' plan to locate a call center in the city that could eventually employ 1,500 workers.
The Barclays Services item appeared on a meeting agenda released late Friday afternoon.
Officials from regional economic development group REDI Cincinnati, Barclays Services, the city of Hamilton, Vora Technology Park and its real estate broker have been tight-lipped about site selection efforts in recent weeks. But sources told The Enquirer in late July the Vora Technology Park in Hamilton would house the new Barclays operation.
The City Council document said Barclays had yet to make a final determination on a site.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a seven-year tax credit worth to Barclays Services late last month. It is unclear how much Hamilton's approval of a 10-year tax credit could be worth to Barclays Services. Hamilton's passage of incentives is required to confirm the state incentive.
Barclays Services, or Barclaycard, is a U.S. division of the United Kingdom-based global financial services company Barclays.
The new jobs would pay an average salary of about $33,242 and the company would be expected to deliver those jobs by the end of 2018, according to the state of Ohio.
Colorado-based Startek USA launched its call center operation in Hamilton last month and that employer is expected to increase hiring in the coming months.
