News : ‘Help Craft New IT-BMP Roadmap for Sustained Growth’
Manila, Philippines, October, 2016 -- The Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) called on all players and stakeholders in the information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industry to participate in crafting a new roadmap for the next six years to ensure the industry’s sustained growth.
IBPAP Board vice chairman and Accenture country managing director Manolito Tayag stressed the importance of the role that the private sector is playing in the completion of the new roadmap.
"It is imperative that players and other stakeholders actively participate in workshops, surveys, and discussions, and make their contributions by joining in on all the industry-wide efforts to enable the industry’s continued growth," Tayag said.
Forging partnerships for a stronger industry, IBPAP formed technical working groups composed of players from both public and private sectors that will help in the development and advancement of the roadmap’s proposed programs.

The IT-BPM industry has been a major driver of the Philippine economy, with contributions expected to reach 1.3 million in direct employment and $25 billion in revenue by the end of 2016.
This year marks the completion of the IT-BPM Roadmap 2012-2016, ushering in a new chapter for the local IT-BPM industry. IT-BPM allied industries which include real estate, retail, telecommunications, and even tourism, have also benefitted from the 2016 Roadmap.
Tayag said the government has shown immense support to the industry by working closely with the IBPAP in rolling out plans and projects to continuously drive growth and attract more foreign investments.
Continuing the momentum of Roadmap 2016, IBPAP engaged Frost & Sullivan to be its research partner in charting the industry’s course for the next six years with the Philippine IT-BPM Roadmap 2022.
For this, IBPAP is taking an integral approach and is pushing for sectoral growth through Sectoral Roadmaps.
IBPAP is working closely with various agencies like the Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, Commission on Higher Education, and the National ICT Council of the Philippines to identify potential growth areas that can be capitalized on.
The umbrella organization is also working closely with partner organizations — Animation Council of the Philippines Inc. (ACPI), Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP), Global In-house Centers Council (GICC), Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP), and Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA) — to ensure that each sector can maximize its full potential and secure overall growth for the entire industry.
"The Roadmap 2022 shall be our bible for the next six years. With the plans, goals, and targets that we are setting up, we aim to accelerate the industry as a future-ready investment destination for the world. Having said that, the most important and vital factor in completing this new Roadmap is the open communication and collaborative environment between businesses, the government and the sectors of the industry," Tayag added.
