News : Helpline for Cancer Info and Support
Hyderabad, India, April 26, 2016 -- Helping Hand Foundation (HHF) - an NGO working for the disadvantaged sections of the society, has tied up with the state run MNJ Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer centre to start a cancer help desk and helpline at the MNJ cancer hospital.
The ‘Help Desk’ will address the medical needs of patients such as providing prosthetics, chemo port, chemo drugs etc, which are not covered under Aryogyasri and the hospital. The volunteers will interact with both in-patients and out-patients in the hospital on a regular basis and will assist them in getting access to the medical services promptly and regularly counselling patients on cancer prevention, healthy lifestyles and nutritional guidance for speedy recovery.
The helpdesk will function daily from 9 am to 5 pm at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the cancer helpline will help patients take informed decisions so that they are empowered to be able to chose the right treatment plan at an optimal cost that is best for them and their families, says Dr Hidayatullah, an internationally renowned palliative care & pain management expert working in leading cancer hospital in Riyadh, KSA, also known as the father of Palliative Care in Middle East.
The helpline will ensure that patients are saved from running from one hospital to another and from the risk of falling into the traps of quacks and also futile treatment plans which squeeze the meagre savings of poor patients and hardly give them any benefit.
You can reach the helpline on 32922004.
