News : Helpline for MLAs to File Complaints
New Delhi, Oct 8, 2014 -- The Delhi administration has decided to launch an exclusive helpline for MLAs and MPs where they can register their grievances.
A call centre has been set up at the Delhi secretariat to manage the helpline that is expected to be launched anytime soon. All complaints made to this call centre will have to be disposed of within a stipulated timeframe.
The move comes in the wake concerns raised by elected representatives that officials are not paying any heed to their complaints in the absence of an elected government in Delhi. This helpline is being seen as an attempt to make various departments accountable for any delay in redressing their grievances.
The call centre has been set-up on the directions of Delhi chief secretary D M Spolia following the approval from lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung, sources said. It will be made operational only after a review of the processes that have been put in place to link the state's public grievance monitoring system (PGMS) to the various departments and agencies of the state.
MLAs and MPs will be provided the helpline number where call centre representatives will log their complaints. The public representatives will be required to give their contact details. The complaints will then be routed through the PGMS to the departments concerned and the officials of those departments will have to resolve the issues.
The status of the complaints made to the helpline will be reviewed by the chief secretary on a regular basis. The PGMS will have a separate icon for the this helpline.
