Ranchi, India, Dec, 2021 -- The Jharkhand State Food Commission has launched a helpline number for beneficiaries to register complaints if they face any problem to avail the benefits of the public distribution system.
Commission under secretary Naresh Kewat said appropriate steps would be taken under the National Food Security Act, 2013, against the ration dealers or officials found guilty.
Beneficiaries can file their complaint through WhatsApp (9142622194) by sharing photos and videos about their difficulties in getting ration from fair price shops, under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, at malnutrition treatment centres and under the midday meal scheme.

"Section 15 of the NFSA provides for a district grievance redressal officer for effective redressal of grievances in matters relating to the distribution of entitled foodgrains or meals. The additional collector holds the post and has to inquire and hear the complaints. The procedure is similar to that of court hearings. The dealer, district supply officer and the marketing officer of that particular block is called for the hearing. Subsequently, after hearing all the sides, an order is passed for compliance," Kewat said.
