News : Helpline to Complain Against Illicit Liquor

Chennai, India, May, 2023 - The Avadi commissionerate has launched a helpline number for citizens to register their complaints on WhatsApp against the illicit liquor trade. Citizens can register their complaints on 7305735666.

Complainants can provide detailed information on illegal brewers, transportation of illegal liquor from neighbouring states as well as those who sell liquor without licences. This will make it easier for police to catch the culprits. They also urged the residents to share the photographs of the smugglers too. The details about the informants will be kept confidential.

The chief minister who chaired a review meeting on Wednesday also asked for the popularizing of the toll-free prohibition helpline, ‘10581’, to enable the public to report on the sale of illicit liquor.
