News : Helpline to Counter Religious, Caste Intolerance
Chennai, India, Oct 9, 2015 -- Khudai Khidmatgar, the organisation started by Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, announced the launch of a helpline to counter the spread of communalism and casteist intolerance, especially through the social media.
The helpline, which would function out of New Delhi, was introduced to Tamil Nadu here by VCK founder Thol. Tirumavalavan.
Members of the organisation said the growth of technology has also made it easier to spread falsehood about religion and escalate tensions between communities.
The helpline (9718072586), which will start functioning from October 12, will help control the spread of false information.
Any person who comes across material that could potentially lead to communal tension can call the number for help.

The organisation would coordinate with NGOs in the particular region and take remedial action and involve the police if need be.
Inamul Hassan, a member, said those who have doubts about Islam and its purpose could utilise the helpline to seek clarification.
