News : Company Invests After Contract Win
Liverpool, England, August 6, 2014 -- Staffords, which was launched in 1918 and provided the founder of the Littlewoods Pools with his first calculator, plans to create new jobs after increasing its capacity.
Staffords, based at Knowsley Business Park, has invested in an upgrade of its call centre systems after securing a contract with BT.
It has now been appointed to provided technical support and advice to retail customers of BT's Home Hub and has invested in systems to allow it to double the number of calls it can handle, in turn creating new jobs.
Fifty-five staff are currently employed by the business with more jobs set to be created.
Peter Stafford said: "We are delighted to have secured the contract to provide a helpline for Home Hub which I believe reflects the excellent support services we have been providing for other parts of BT's business including DECT (cordless) phones.
"Our call centre service evolved when we were repairing fax machines for BT. They asked us if we could provide a technical helpline as we had a good understood of how fax machines operated and it has grown from there."
Lesley Martin-Wright, chief executive of Knowsley Chamber, which has supported the business, added: "It is great news that Stafford’s is going from strength to strength and, along with many other successful businesses in Knowsley, is helping to create an atmosphere of vibrancy and incredible optimism.
"We are doing all we can to support businesses like Stafford’s and can provide assistance to any firms considering opening a base in the borough, re-locating here or looking to grow their business."
