News : HSBC to Create 200 New Jobs in Scotland
June 18, 2014 -- HSBC has announced plans to create 200 new jobs in Scotland across its contact centre and Security Services and corporate banking operations.
The London-headquartered bank, which already employs 3,300 people in Scotland, plans to add 100 new staff at its Security Services business in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
A further 85 permanent and fixed-term positions are being created at its call centre in Hamilton.
HSBC is also expanding its Corporate Banking division in Scotland with a further 20 new roles, having recently established new commercial banking teams in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh
The bank said it also plans to create a new private banking division in Aberdeen.
HSBC has been expanding its operations in Scotland, including its branch network, as part of a wider investment.
Alison McGregor, Chief Executive of HSBC in Scotland, said: "HSBC's role in Scotland is to support growth in the Scottish economy, through helping businesses expand in the UK and overseas, supporting individuals and providing quality employment.
"This is a very positive sign for Scotland and HSBC."
Scottish Enterprise chief executive, Lena Wilson, said described the bank's expansion as being a "testament to the attractiveness of Scotland as a location for international corporations, thanks to the skills of our people, a competitive cost base and a well-developed business infrastructure".
