News : Insurance Group to Close Morrisville Call Center
July 8, 2014 -- A Morrisville call center office for global insuance company QBE North America will be shutting down by next March, per a WARN notification sent to the state Department of Commerce this week.
The move will eliminate about 107 jobs in Morrisville, according to the WARN notice. Most of the jobs are related to positions in customer care, loss draft representatives and their supervisors.
QBE’s corporate legal counsel Bruce Larson in his letter to the state did not specify why the Morrisville office was closing.
QBE had also closed a call center in Lincoln, Neb., in 2013 eliminating 113 jobs, according to a report in Insurance Journal.
QBE North America is what’s left of the ZC Sterling Corp., a services firm for the mortgage industry that was acquired by QBE Insurance Group in 2008.
ZC Sterling at its peak in 2007 had signed a lease for 40,000 square feet, or enough space for about 350 people, to expand at the Perimeter Park business park in Morrisville.
QBE North America will begin worker layoffs in several waves between Nov. 7 and March 20, 2015, according to the WARN notice under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
