News : Italian Call Centre Provider Almaviva to Cut 2,500 Jobs
Rome, Italy, October, 2016 -- Italian customer services provider Almaviva Contact has informed the Italian employment and social affairs ministry that it will be closing its Rome and Naples offices as part of a restructuring plan.
As a result, a total of 2,511 employees will be laid off – 1,666 in Rome and 845 in Naples – for reasons of "cost reduction, production process optimisation and logistics streamlining".
Trade unions have strongly criticised the company’s move and called on the government to intervene to save the call centre jobs. Almaviva Contact is a subsidiary of Italian ICT services provider
