News : Italian Users will be Allowed to Choose Italian Call Centre
Nov 1, 2013 -- Italians will be able to speak to a call centre based in Italy rather than one located abroad, in accordance with a provision issued by the Italian data protection authority.
The provision serves to define decree-law no. 83/2012 and makes it more complicated for companies planning call centres abroad with at least 20 workers.
For outgoing calls, users must not only be informed that the call centre they have contacted is located abroad, but must also be offered the chance to speak with a call centre based in Italy.
Likewise, for incoming calls, call centres should take appropriate measures to give users the possibility of choosing an Italian operator by subsequently diverting the call or having an Italian operator call back.
