News : ITIDA Supports 97 Companies in Exporting Technological Services with EGP 39.5m

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has provided support worth EGP 39.5m to 97 companies in the information technology sector through the export enhancement programme Export It.
According to a report by ITIDA, the programme has witnessed a noticeable demand from 180 companies to apply for the support in 2016. The companies’ services varied from technological services, software development, communications and information technology services, to electronic exports, application development services, in addition to IT-enabled services, such as call centre, consulting, IT training, and embedded software services.

According to the statistical report issued about the programme, Asia topped the global destinations to which local companies have exported their products and technological services by 61%, followed by North and South America by 20%, Europe by 14%, and Africa by 5%.
The report showed that the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Saudi Arabia, China, and the United States were the most prominent markets that benefited from the services and products of the exporting Egyptian companies.
Call centre services have acquired 35% of total exports, whereas the exports of content management services represent 22%, followed by exports from application development services by 15%.
The programme allows companies to obtain direct support on their exports, ranging from 10-20%, with a maximum of EGP 2.5m of exports per company.
The largest share of support went to microenterprises with a number of workers ranging from one to nine, achieving annual revenues of less than EGP 1m. Those companies receive 20% of the value of their total exports as an incentive. Small businesses with 10-50 workers and revenues estimated at EGP 10m obtain 15%, while 12% is given to medium-sized companies with 50-250 workers and export revenues of EGP 10m to EGP 80m. Large companies with more than 250 workers and export revenues of more than EGP 80m received 10% of their total exports’ value.
