News : Keio University Selects Avaya SDN Fx to Power Tsuruoka Town Campus
Santa Clara, CA, USA, March 3, 2016 -- Keio University, Japan's modern institute of higher education, has implemented Avaya SDN Fx technology for the university's Tsuruoka Town Campus. The technology infrastructure is delivering network quality performance with zero downtime to students, staff and faculty.
The university's previous network design was highly complicated, which made maintenance and failure investigation very challenging. When the university prepared to upgrade the network last year, it looked for a solution that required minimal configuration modification requirements as the Tsuruoka Town Campus doesn't have an infrastructure specialist on-site.
To address its network challenges, Keio University deployed the Avaya SDN Fx architecture to deliver operational continuity and high reliability. Avaya Wireless LAN access points installed in the Tsuruoka Town Campus are monitored from a Tokyo campus site, and the solution is supporting various authentication methods, enabling flexible operation.
"The complexity of the multi-vendor environment we were using was generating glitches and adding maintenance support costs. While we spoke to numerous vendors regarding an upgrade, when I first heard Avaya's presentation I was thrilled with their solution, and when I saw the demonstration from their engineers that thrill turned into a firm belief. The difference between Avaya and other companies was obvious, and I wanted to give this SPB technology a shot. This technology provides the performance and scalability we will require if we expand our campuses in future or for large scale deployment at other campuses."
