News : Little Rock VA Takes Over Call Center Duty for Houston VA During Flooding
Little Rock, AK, USA, Aug, 2107 -- The Central Arkansas Veterans' Healthcare System in Little Rock has taken over Call Center duty for the Houston VA until further notice.
Before noon, staff had already taken more than 2,200 calls. Many of those calls involved routine questions about appointments and prescriptions.

But some have been emergency situations where Little Rock staff had to jump into action. For example, a stranded patient with an empty oxygen tank.
"He could not get out. Some of my nursing staff went online, were able to find the closest fire station and get a hold of the fire station and they were able to get the patient some oxygen," Pat Klosky, nurse manager at the Central Arkansas Veterans' Healthcare System, said.
The Little Rock VA has re-assigned some administrative staff, nurses and therapists to help cover the call load.
We're told many are volunteering to work extra hours.
