News : LivingSocial Call Center Slashes ‘Under 100' Jobs
Tucson AZ, Nov 6, 2014 -- Tucson's LivingSocial call center has laid off nearly 100 workers.
The layoffs are part of a companywide reorganization that axed 400 jobs at various North American plants, representing 20 percent of its workforce, said company spokeswoman Sara Parker, via email, who added the job losses were "under 100."
The Tucson call center, at 250 S. Williams Blvd., opened in 2012 and employed more than 350 before the layoffs, which were announced Thursday.
"Now that we have informed our employees about our plans, I can confirm that today LivingSocial announced a corporate reorganization," Smith said.
In October 2013, LivingSocial switched from a daily deal clearinghouse to an online seller.

"The actions today will create a more streamlined and efficient sales model that will enable the business to fund areas of growth - namely technology, data science and mobile," CEO Gautam Thakar said.
The Tucson call center will remain open, with "well over 250 employees," Parker said.
