News : Local Call Center Closing, Almost 20 People to Lose Jobs
Yakima, Wash., April 29, 2014 -- Almost 20 people in Yakima are losing their jobs because a local call center is shutting down.
It's the Yakima unemployment tax call center run by the state. Employees answer questions from businesses about tax issues.
The Employment Security Department says budget cuts are behind the move. That will leave only one center open in Olympia by the end of July.
Seventeen people will lose their jobs. Two will relocate to Olympia.
Businesses calling for help will likely have to wait longer.
