Shelby County, TN, USA, March, 2019 -- Conduit Global, a business process outsourcing firm that operates a local call center, plans to lay off more than 100 Shelby County employees, according to a notice filed recently.
The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development about "a permanent layoff" of 112 workers on Friday, March 1.
This isn't the first layoff the company has had in recent years. In 2015, the company laid off 592 people due to an "unforeseen loss of business."
When the call center at 7000 Goodlett Farms Parkway opened in 2014, then-Gov. Bill Haslam was in attendance and the company pledged to hire 1,000 workers.
Conduit Global could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.
