News : Local Company Working to Hire 60 New Employees
Dec 9, 2014 -- Could 2015 bring a new wave of jobs? A new survey finds employers plan on doing more hiring at the start of next year, than they've done in the past seven years.
The Manpower report shows a hiring increase of 16% in the first quarter. We haven't seen that since 2008. Employers in the Midwest and West have some of the strongest hiring intentions.
A number of local companies are hiring. Toledo based Universal Marketing Group is one of them. The call center takes orders for some of the most popular infomercial products on the market. They're looking to fill both full and part time positions and the full time jobs include full benefits.
Even with dozens of temporary workers on the phones, White says they need to hire more, "We've had a lot of success with hiring efforts this year but this season seems to be busier than we've ever been so we are kicking it up another notch. We still need 50-60 additional sales reps to help us out." White says they are hiring both full and part time workers, "For the full time employees we offer benefits including medical, dental, vision, a 401k plan and paid vacation."
Since the call center is open around the clock, Popoff says scheduling is flexible, "If you want to be with your kids during the day and you are free at night we have a spot for you. If you want to work early in the morning we have a spot for you and if you want to work weekends we have a spot for you."
Your paycheck is based on your sales numbers, "We are a commission based job so our sales reps seem to be making anywhere from $14-$18 an hour right now. We do however have some reps who make upwards of $33-$35 an hour."
White says UMG is also in the process of implementing a new pay structure which will include raises, bonuses and incentives. She says that will be in place in the next couple weeks.
