News : Local Leaders Tour Convergys Call Center
June 5, 2014 -- Watertown's call center, Convergys, invited local leaders to take a look at its facility.
Representatives from city hall, the Jefferson County Industrial Development Agency and the Watertown Local Development Corporation toured the business.
Convergys has 700 employees and room for 300 more.
Just last month, Convergys announced it may lay off about 200 people this July.
Officials are hopeful that won't happen.
"All signs appear to be very good that they're in position to take on new contracts and get their employee levels up," said Don Rutherford of the WLDC.
Convergys says it's still trying to bring in new clients to keep as many employees as possible.
