News : Lord & Taylor Will Hire 140 in Wilkes-Barre Twp.
Jan 16, 2014 -- Lord & Taylor in Wilkes-Barre Township is expanding and creating 140 more jobs, according to a press release from the retailer's parent company.
Hudson’s Bay Company, the Canadian owner of the retailer, completed an acquisition of Saks Fifth Avenue in November. The jobs and expansion follow the acquisition.
Hudson’s Bay Company merged the receiving and processing of merchandise for its Saks Fifth Avenue stores from Aberdeen, Md. into the existing Wilkes-Barre Township location.
The local location will now be the hub for all goods for Saks Fifth Avenue stores and Lord & Taylor stores as well as e-commerce fulfillment for Lord & Taylor. Additionally, the location continues to be the home of Hudson’s Bay Company’s contact center.
"It is always exciting to announce job creating and HBC is proud to bring 140 new positions to Wilkes-Barre (Township)," Bill Tracy, executive vice president of distribution and logistics for Hudson’s Bay Company, said in a statement.
"With the addition of Saks Fifth Avenue and the tremendous growth of our e-commerce facility the Wilkes-Barre (Township) facility is vital to us meeting customer demand; not just the fulfillment of merchandise orders, but delivering on the full customer experiences people have come to expect from HBC."
