Bhopal, India, June 12, 2020 - The 108 integrated call centre which caters to medical emergencies from across Madhya Pradesh has been hit with Covid-19. The call centre executives under quarantine are now operating out of a hotel and college building to keep the service running.
The main call centre, operating from a private mall at Hoshangabad road in Bhopal, was sealed off after 15 new cases were diagnosed, on Thursday. So far 36 have been infected with Covid-19 and 312 have been tested for the infection, according to private call centre operator, Ziqitza healthcare limited (ZHL) representative.
"We have desegregated the call centre to maintain the service. It is now operating from five different locations and we have taken additional support from 181 service," said national health mission MP, mission director, Chhavi Bhardwaj. "We have taken measures to ensure, 108 service is not affected. Average daily dispatch of some 7,000 ambulance vehicles requests has been maintained. We monitoring the situation," she added.
"During the current situation, we are experiencing a heavy volume of calls at our call centres and due to which there is a possibility of missing a few calls. We are working closely with NHM - National Health Mission to resolve this issue and to ensure uninterrupted services. Looking at the safety of our back-office staff they have been assigned to work from home," said ZHL project head, Jitendra Sharma. The first case of Covid-19 in the call centre was diagnosed after random sampling. In the last four days, 36 others including back office staff have been diagnosed with Covid-19.
