News : Man Faces 101 Charges for Telephonic Harassment
Eugene, OR, April 16, 2015 -- According to Sgt. Carrie Carver from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, the LCSO 911 call center has received at least 101 phone calls from Shawn Weatherhead, age 43.
They believe the number far exceeds the 101, but only 101 are recorded. In one 24-hour period he called 63 times.
He would call and hang-up, or threaten the 911 operators and their families. He would also challenge employees to fist fights.
Some of the calls were made while real emergency calls were coming in. They never went after him because of short staffing.
On Tuesday morning he came to the sheriff’s office around 9:00. He was loud and disruptive in the hallway. He never told deputies why he came to the office. He was arrested shortly after.
LCSO would like to remind people that you should only call 911 if you have an emergency. They received 92,402 calls for service in 2014.
