News : Southern Railway Helpline Operational
Chennai, India, Feb 28, 2015 -- A day after the Union Railway Minister announced a general helpline, the Southern Railway said that the customer helpline number 138 is operational in all the divisions of Southern Railway.
The helpline will address complaints relating to cleanliness, food and catering, coach maintenance, medical emergency, linen.
Meanwhile, the Southern Railway extended booking of unreserved suburban tickets on mobile phones to 13 more suburban stations. The system was introduced in January in five stations on the suburban network. But from February 28, commuters can book suburban tickets through this app from: Chennai Beach, Chennai Fort, Chennai Park, Chennai Egmore, Nungambakkam, Mambalam, Saidapet , Guindy, St. Thomas Mount, Palavanthangal, Chrompet, Tambaram, Velaachery, Tiruvanmiyur, Tirumayilai, Chennai Central, Perambur, Ambattur.
The charging of Railway Wallet can be done online through the IRCTC payment gateway as well as across the counter.
