News : Massive Liverpool Dock Plan Could Create 1,500 New Jobs and an Ice Rink
Liverpool, UK, Sept, 2017 -- A massive development plan for Liverpool’s Kings Dock could create 1,500 new jobs and bring an Ice rink and bowling alley to the Mersey waterfront.
Call centre provider the Contact Company is to build a new office at Monarch’s Quay and plans to recruit 1,500 employees to fill it.
And the overall Kings Dock development could include a rink, a hotel and new apartments as part of a "new leisure, commercial and retail destination".
Hundreds more jobs would be created during construction and the later phases of the development. The developers say the opening "would mark the biggest single jobs boost for Liverpool city region since the opening of Liverpool ONE in 2008".

The Contact Company, which is based in Birkenhead, is teaming up with Liverpool Council and with developer YPG on the Monarchs Quay development.
The new site would be in addition to existing Wirral bases, where it employs some 1,200 people. It has run outsourced contact centres for organisations from the Health Lottery to River Island.
Chief executive Asif Hamid said the company needed a new office to cope with demand – and said he hoped to recruit many more local staff.
Mr Hamid said he wanted to open the four-storey high building by the end of next year, subject to planning permission.
He said: "Our new office will be a high quality, landmark building and will mean a huge range of opportunities for employment and training.
"We remain committed to our Wirral operation but this development will enable us to significantly expand our business and compete for global customer care contracts."
The next phases of the Kings Dock scheme could include a 2,000-seat ice rink and a Winter Garden.
The developers say: "Ten pin bowling and an innovative virtual reality leisure centre are also being considered."
Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson said: "This is brilliant news for Liverpool and could ultimately lead to the creation of a new riverside destination, boosting our visitor economy and creating jobs for local people."
Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram said: "The Contact Company is one of the city region’s more recent success stories. I’m delighted that it has chosen to invest in our area again with this exciting project."
And Chris Bliss, project leader for YPG, said: "Our focus is on delivering the highest quality design, build and fit-out for what is a unique riverside location."
A consultation on the later phases of the development, where the bowling alley and ice rink would stand, will begin in September so member of the public can have their say.
