News : Mercy Launches Medicare Insurance Helpline
April 4, 2014 -- Having choices can be a good thing, but when it came time to sign up for Medicare, all the options made the process overwhelming for Lynn Aulbach.
"It was too much to wade through," she said. "It really is the most complicated issue an older person faces, because if you make a wrong decision, you're stuck with it for at least a year."
That's why Mercy is teaming up with MedicareCompareUSA to launch a free service that will help Medicare patients make sense of it all. Licensed Medicare insurance specialists can explain the difference between Medicare Advantage and supplement plans, compare and enroll patients in a Medicare insurance plan and help find prescription coverage. The service is free and unbiased.
Aulbach said you shouldn't be surprised if you need the help annually.
"They make changes to the plans every year and it's like starting over. It's hard to know what's best," she said.
All Mercy primary care doctors accept Medicare.
