Chennai, India, Mar, 2023 - Though electricity consumers' common grievance is that they are not able to reach Minnagam, the round-the-clock call centre setup to register and resolve electricity complaints, as many as 14.36 lakh complaints have been received via the call centre ever since its inception in June, 2021.
According to Minnagam, 99.8 per cent of complaints have been resolved so far. This year alone, 85,884 complaints have been received till February 28.
In June last year, chief minister M K Stalin himself attended a call made by a resident of Tiruvarur marking the 1 lakh calls received by Minnagam. However, a long pending demand of consumers is to enable Minnagam to reduce the waiting period and call drop issues. While the call centre can handle 60 calls at a time, it was increased to 75 during the Mandous cyclone.
Consumers find raising the complaint on Twitter tagging Tangedco's official account more responsive as they are redressed faster.
