News : Mole Valley Residents Receiving Hoax Calls from a Fake Council
Mole Valley, UK, Jan 18, 2016 -- Residents in Mole Valley have been receiving hoax phone calls from people pretending to be from a council that does not exist.
Several people who live in the Dorking area have contacted the Advertiser to say that they have received calls from a man pretending to be from "Dorking City Council", but as this organisation does not exist, they have become suspicious.
Sarah Billiald, a Dorking resident, said: "I got the call at around 10.30am on Monday on my landline.
"I thought it was going to be a sales person as the call took a while to click through, like delay you get when utilities or phone sales people ring from a call centre abroad.

"A male voice said good morning and said he was ringing from "Dorking City Council" I responded saying there was no such thing as Dorking City Council and asked where was he actually calling from.
"At which point he hung up - I guess if you can see its the 01306 area code then you know its Dorking and most people may not even know the name of their local council but I work with local government so he rang the wrong district council geek."
