News : More Than 240 Jobs At Risk at Belleville Business
Belleville, ON, Canada, April 10, 2019 -- The loss of a contract for a business services company in Belleville could result in more than 240 job losses.
Officals at Concentrix say they will try to save the jobs of as many employees as it can. They told workers at the Dundas Street West plant on Monday and Tuesday more than 240 people will be affected by the loss of the contract.
Brooke Beiting, communications specialist at Concentrix, said more than 100 employees may be put on other projects in Belleville. It also offers an extensive work-at-home program. The company’s sales team is also working to find new contracts for the plant.
The City of Belleville is concerned with the Concentrix layoff announcement and will use city support resources to assist those impacted find employment.

"We were concerned to hear of the layoffs at Concentrix today but are confident the city has resources that can help those affected find meaningful employment here in Belleville," stated Mayor Mitch Panciuk. "Our Work in Belleville program is here to help and the cities of Belleville and Quinte West are hosting a job fair at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre on April 23 from 3 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. We have more than 40 employers already registered to attend with hundreds of jobs available. We know what a devastating impact a job loss can have on an individual or family and the city will do everything possible to help everyone affected transition to a new job. We will also work with Concentrix to provide whatever assistance we can to replace the contract they recently lost."
The company Concentrix lost the contract with cannot be revealed because of a strict client confidentiality agreement, Beiting said.
Concentrix employs more than 400 people at its Belleville location, and layoffs will commence over the next three months.
Meanwhile, The Arizona Star reported Monday California-based Concentrix Corp. laid off 785 workers at the company’s Tucson call centre.
Concentrix is a subsidiary of Synnex Corp., which in October acquired call-centre operator Convergys Corp. along with the Belleville and Tucson operations.
