News : Mumbai University’s Help Desk Bungles While Trying to Process Results of Students
Mumbai, India, Aug, 2017 -- The Help Desk set up by the Mumbai University (MU) is trying its best to process results of those students who are opting for higher studies in foreign universities. But problems like documents being misplaced, waiting for hours together, no information about status of results and lack of staff have filled the Help Desk adding to the problems of students.
Large number of students with different problems throng the Help Desk centre at the Kalina campus of the university everyday. Some students want a statement of marks or CGPA (Cumulative Grade Points Average), some want a letter while others want an actual marksheet within a tight deadline. The Help Desk is trying to cater to these problems but lack of coordination is increasing the problems.

Students complained as they have to visit the Help Desk again and again as the officers are cooperative but the process is tedious. A students said, "I have applied at the De Montfort University (DMU) at the United Kingdom (UK) but the officers at the Help Desk lost all my documents. I have resubmitted all my documents but I have to go the centre everyday to check the status of my result."
While, other students want an actual marksheet as their deadline for submissions are approaching and they have deposited part of their fees. A student said, "I need an actual marksheet as the foreign university is accepting neither the confidential statement of marks nor the confidential scorecard. The officers at the Help Desk are cooperative and are trying their best but they should streamline the process a bit more."
Out of 71 cases that were registered on Thursday over 60 students have been issued confidential statement of marks while some have been issued a confidential scorecard or marksheet. Vinod Malale, a senior officer at the Help Desk, said, "We have different cases of students who are approaching us everyday with different requirements. We are trying our best to set papers that are pending for assessment in the priority basket so that teachers can assess these papers first."
