News : Nationwide to Close Virginia Call Center
Lynchburg, VA, USA, Feb 23, 2015 -- Nationwide Insurance says it will close its Lynchburg, Virginia, call center by the middle of 2016.
The News & Advance reports that the move means 340 jobs will leave the area.
Nationwide spokesman Eric Hardgrove says the closure is part of a multi-year effort to consolidate the company’s direct sales, service and claims operations.
The insurance company’s individual agents in the area will not be affected.
Hardgrove says the earliest loss of jobs will occur in January. Some job relocations are possible. Hardgrove says associates who choose not to relocate will be offered two months paid advance notice, plus severance benefits and help finding a new job.
