News : New Call Center Planned for Tempe
Feb 27, 2014 -- Austin-based CLEAResult, an energy-efficiency company, is bringing 200 jobs to Tempe with a new bilingual call center, the company announced.
The company recently hired 50 employees and plans to hire another 150 in the next year or so to work in its customer-care center. The center will serve English-Spanish speaking customer programs at first, but will expand to include Asian languages as well, according to the company.
The 14,000-square-foot facility is at 1401 S. 52nd St., Tempe.
The company was founded in 2003 and has more than 1,250 employees in the U.S. and Canada. The company serves a variety of utility clients.
"We do everything from customer service, calls about billing, gas or electric, or about energy-efficiency programs from a local utility," said Frank Royal, vice president of the CustomerLink program for the company.
"This is a good place to recruit bilingual employees," he said. "Tempe checked a lot of boxes for us when it came to choosing a site."
"We are just very excited to be a part of the Tempe area," Royal said. "We are on the leading edge of the green industry."
The company provides as much as six weeks of training for some employees, and workers earn starting salaries of about $11 an hour, though more skilled and experienced workers can earn more than $15 or $20 an hour depending on their job assignments, plus benefits, Royal said.
The company soon will advertise for 25 more positions, and in the next year begin hiring people who speak a variety of Asian languages including dialects of Chinese and Korean to service mostly West Coast utility customer calls, he said.
