Mount Vernon, OH, USA, Aug 27, 2019 -- ContactUS Communications has selected a former retail location in Mount Vernon as its newest call center operation. The Columbus-based company will move into the former MC Sports building at 939 Coshocton Ave.
Trevor Friesen, president and CEO, told Knox Pages that the company plans to hire 100 customer service representatives initially and will be operational by Sept. 3. He anticipates around 250 employees by the first part of 2020. The first employee has already been hired and is undergoing training.
The company is making improvements to the building. Renovations include additional restrooms, training rooms, and office space for human resources. Computer cables are being laid and security cameras will be installed.
Friesen said the former sporting goods store works well for the company because of its open interior space and ease of remodeling to house a large number of call center employees.
Jeffry Harris, president and general counsel to the Area Development Foundation, said the ContactUS Communications viewed options in Mount Vernon as well as North Carolina and Pennsylvania for its newest call center before selecting the 20,000-square-foot former retail outlet. The facility will accommodate new service lines offered by ContactUS Communications as well as deploy call center-based software technology brand new to the company. The Mount Vernon location will serve new customers to ContactUS Communications, with most of the call center business coming from outside Ohio.
The Area Development Foundation handled the company’s initial inquiries about establishing new operations in Knox County. Beginning in late 2018, the foundation began working with ContactUS Communications’ executive team as it considered location options.

"This selection by ContactUS Communications validates Knox County as a location of choice in Central Ohio and helps further diversify our local economy. We see growth not only in Knox County’s large manufacturing and health care sectors but now also in customer-service support opportunities."
