News : New Customer Service Center at Volvo Plant Brings Jobs in Southwest Virginia
Pulaski County, AK, September, 2015 -- Governor Terry McAuliffe announced that Volvo will invest for upgrades at the existing plant and to build a new Customer Service Center.
The facility will be 36,000 square feet and will bring 32 new jobs to the area, which will bring the total number of jobs at the plant to nearly 3,000.
Pulaski County leaders attended the announcement ceremony Friday. They said the impact from Volvo’s latest investment will have a positive impact on the county.
County leaders called it a "trickle down effect," which they said means more jobs in the county, more people are likely to live in the area, and more people willing to spend money.
Governor Terry McAuliffe said he thinks the announcement of the new center could lead to more jobs in Southwest Virginia.
The new center will be ready by the end of 2016.
