News : New Emergency Call Centre for Erongo
Swakopmund, Namibia, May 16, 2017 -- The Emergency and Security Services company at Swakopmund has taken the Erongo region by storm, responding to every emergency case.
The company that operates with radio communication services from Usakos to Swakopmund, the Ugab River, Uis and Walvis Bay, has been welcomed by many residents as it is showing up at various scenes and actively complementing other law enforcement companies.
According to the owner of the company, Hendrik Burger, the public has been very helpful in communicating every small crime incident from lost pets to major accidents as well as wanted suspects and drug cases, especially during the recent long weekends.

"Since the public learnt about our quick response, we have been receiving calls on our phone, and immediately communicated that to other emergency units around the region. We are determined to save as many lives and solve as many cases in this region as possible. We are proud of our teams, who especially worked hard on the mass accidents during the long weekends, and also helped with diving operations in the Omaruru floods," he said.
The company will soon open an emergency awareness centre at Swakopmund, where operators will be on duty, taking emergency calls for a quick response. The service will be similar to the American 911 call centres, which have been very successful in saving lives and combating crime.
"This will be a 24-hour call centre manned by trained operators who will inform ambulance services, the police, fire stations, diving companies and drug squads as soon as calls come in. This is the new era of curbing crime and get the right essential emergency services on scene in this region. No crime or accident will go unnoticed," he stated.
According to Burger, the company will also use sniffer dogs to detect drugs and explosives, and will recruit volunteers for emergency services.
He said the company is already offering safety guarding, where security guards assist with first aid and crime detection, and a rapid reaction unit, with all officers trained in first aid. They can also track suspects, detect drugs and explosives, alarm monitoring and rapid response, give cash-in-transit services and security awareness training for companies, schools and the public.
The emergency number is 085951.
